Spot BTC ETFs: red Tuesday, redder Wednesday
Monday had followed a fat Thursday at +$730.8M, then a thinner Friday at +$174.6M, straight into the long weekend of Labor Day in the US.
US spot bitcoin ETFs - the funds that hold real BTC - printed -$46.6M on Tuesday 8 September. Grayscale's GBTC did most of the damage at -$65.5M. Wednesday 9 September printed -$120.2M, ARK's ARKB at -$78.0M. Thursday's book is still open.
| Date | IBIT | ARKB | GBTC | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 September | +$10.7M | +$8.1M | -$65.5M | -$46.6M |
| 9 September | -$19.5M | -$78.0M | -$27.2M | -$120.2M |
Farside - US spot BTC ETF daily flows. Total = all spot funds; IBIT, ARKB and GBTC sit inside that Total.
Important to see: Two red sessions after that fat Thursday is a fade.
This is mixed.

Liquid leaked. Then they froze the gate.
Liquid is Blockstream's federated Bitcoin sidechain. L-BTC is meant to match bitcoin held by the federation.
On 6 September, about 3,996 BTC came off that peg. Reserves fell from 4,205 to 202 BTC, about $320M at then-prices. The attacker sent back 3,400 BTC and kept 598.5 BTC (~$47M) as a self-bounty. The network halted at 04:49 UTC on 7 September.
Blockstream, via crypto.news and Bloomberg on 8 September, said federation keys were untouched. They blamed a range-proof cache bug in Elements, the software Liquid runs on.
The booth kept printing extra tickets. Then they locked the gate.
Why it matters: L-BTC holders need that peg to hold. This sat on Liquid.
This is ugly for Liquid.
We will keep eyes on what Blockstream publishes next.
