A spy chip in a reseller box
On 13 October CoinDesk reported that Ledger says a spy chip inside CryptoBilis Ledger devices transmitted wallet keys over the mobile network. The same page says Ledger announced MediaMarkt Saturn stopped selling devices after a customer found a corrupted signer in Germany. On 12 October CoinDesk reported that on-chain researchers estimate $86 million to $93 million stolen from more than 300 wallets. That figure is a researcher estimate. Decrypt reports the thief pushed 2,810 ETH through Tornado Cash in three runs, then moved the withdrawals through Zcash's shielded pool.

Why it matters: a hardware wallet is only as clean as the shelf it came from. Like a lock that arrives with the spare key already cut. Buy hardware only from the maker, and never use a device that arrives with a seed already installed. We will watch the next confirmed-device count.

People are selling AI trading bots
More people are trying to jump on the hype and advertise trading with AI agents. We keep watching those pitches, the same way we watch the rest of the market. A circulating claim of $100 to $17,608 from a memecoin bot is an unverified screenshot, not an audited result. Agents are for building, checking, and analysis. They are not a substitute for a risk-controlled strategy. Cryptosystems uses algorithmic trading with risk premia.
Coins.ph and the central bank
On 13 October CoinDesk reported that Coins.ph, the largest crypto exchange in the Philippines, is said to face central bank regulatory action. The public line puts the biggest local venue next to the supervisor.

Why it matters: peso-side access runs through that desk. We will keep eyes on a named order.

Sberbank gets approval to trade crypto
On 13 October CoinDesk reported that Sberbank, Russia's largest bank, secured approval to trade crypto. The license is the new fact.

Why it matters: a household bank with that permission can pull local savings onto a regulated rail. We will watch the first session clients can reach. Our systems stay in range mode.

Federated Hermes plans fund shares on-chain
On 13 October CoinDesk reported that Federated Hermes plans its first onchain fund shares, in the Wall Street push to put fund ownership on a chain.

Why it matters: a known asset manager on a chain is how this plumbing reaches ordinary portfolios. We expect the date that changes the view to be a prospectus with a subscribe path. We will watch that filing.
