Spot BTC ETFs flip after the five-green week
Monday we flagged five green creation days and about $854M for the week ended 7 August - fattest week since mid-April. Monday's victory lap lasted about as long as the average Gen-Z's attention span. The next three US sessions flipped that path. I said briefly on Monday - the celebration lasted about three sessions.
| Date | IBIT | Total |
|---|---|---|
| 10 August | -$53.6M | -$144.6M |
| 11 August | +$50.2M | +$7.8M |
| 12 August | -$14.3M | -$61.1M |
Farside Investors - US spot BTC ETF daily flows. Total = all spot funds; IBIT is one line inside that total.
Two red sessions around one thin green - the bounce showed up… then ghosted. IBIT is still the swing horse.
Why it matters: When these funds redeem, they sell real bitcoin into custody. The bounce failed its first confirmation test. We are back in flow churn. We will keep eyes on the next two to four ETF sessions.
This is bearish short-term for the creation bid.

July CPI in-line; BTC slips near $63.5k
On 12 August the US released July CPI - the main consumer inflation gauge. Headline prices rose a thin 0.1% on the month and sit about 3.4% higher than a year ago. Strip out food and energy (core) and you get 0.2% / 2.5%. Cheaper energy and gasoline did a lot of the work. In plain English: inflation cooled a notch and landed about where everyone already packed for - no shock, no party.
Crypto still did not throw a parade. By 13 August, 04:32 UTC, CoinGecko had BTC near $63,553. Equities got the better party invite. Traders are already looking past the print to the next Fed tests.
Why it matters: A calm inflation print alone was not enough to restart a crypto bid. We stay tied to Fed path noise and the ETF churn above. We will keep eyes on the next Fed speakers and data.
This is mixed for Crypto - relief on paper, muted on our tape.
